Forsythia is a very common sight in gardens all over the world. Its
bright yellow flowers give a splash of color when few other shrubs are
flowering. It is known as an "indicator" plant: the billowy
blooms tell you that the soil is above 45 degrees and that roots are
active. The standard goldenbells variety can grow 8 to 10 feet in height
and width, so crowding them in a small area is not recommended. Forsythia
prefers full sun but will tolerate partial shade. It is a great shrub
for beginner or expert gardeners because given little attention it will
reward you a thousand times.
