Arborvitaes have arrived.
Do not miss our special spring prices!
Arborvitaes play an important role in the landscape
industry: they can be used as specimens, for great screening, to create
a natural fence, as well as being good noise blockers. Among the different
types of Arborvitaes are the American Arborvitae, the Techny, the Emerald
Green, and Green Giant. All have an upright shape, some wider than others,
with a slow to medium growth rate. The appearance of the foliage is
scale-like, soft to the touch. All the Arborvitaes prefer a cold climate.
They should be planted in moist, well-drained fertile soils with an
alkaline PH level. They can be planted anywhere that has full to partial
sun, and require minimal aftercare. Arborvitaes are hardy to zones 3
to 7. |

Use natural wood chips for mulch. The chips may be
up to 4” deep. Pile them in a donut shape around the tree, making
sure that they DO NOT touch the bark. There should be a space of 2-3”
at the base of the tree.
Benefits on mulching:
* Prevents soil compaction
* Keeps the weeds out
* Adds an static value to the landscape
* Keeps the moisture in the soil
* Keeps the roots of the plant cool
